| On September
17, 1862, a day unequaled in fury, the bloodiest
single day of battle in the American Civil
War occurred along the banks of Antietam Creek
near Sharpsburg, Maryland.
I am honored to be counted among
those entrusted to preserve and relate the
human sacrifice, determination, and fierce
dedication which is the story of Antietam.
My name is Steve Malovich and
I would like to thank you for your interest
in Antietam National Battlefield. I like many
before me, with the unquenchable thirst for
knowledge have studied the American Civil War
passionately and independently for over forty
years. I
invite you to join me in the pursuit of knowledge and better understanding of
the American Civil War. Let me illustrate the War's driving forces of politics,
ideology, and strategy culminating in the battle of Antietam as we walk it's
sacred grounds as well as those of the National Cemetery. Learn more about
the single most destructive day ever inflicted upon American soldiers and how
their sacrifice affects us all today.
As an American Civil War historian,
I can also provide tours of:
- Harper's Ferry
- South Mountain
- Monocacy
- Campaigns of the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia
My knowledge encompasses more than
just the
armed conflict - Do you have questions
regarding Abraham Lincoln and the politics
of his time? Perhaps you want to learn more
about the daily
life of the individual soldier.
Are you interested
in the care of the wounded?
I would be
happy to speak with you in
advance
to design
a program that meets
your expressed interests.
I encourage you to visit Antietam
National
Battlefield and all historic sites of the
American Civil War.
