Now
in its third full year of existence,
the Antietam Battlefield Guides’ program
has been a great success. This program
is administered by the Western
Maryland Interpretive Association (WMIA),
the official non-profit partner of
Antietam National Battlefield. Profits
from this program go to help preserve
and support Antietam. Our experienced,
knowledgeable guides work closely
with park staff, and also serve as
volunteers in the park. The standard
tour lasts 2 1/2 hours, but many individuals
and groups hire a guide for longer
periods of time. In addition guides
can provide “specialty tours.”
These include tours that focus on particular
units, certain areas of the battlefield,
or other facets of the Maryland Campaign,
such as the Battles of South Mountain,
Harpers Ferry or Shepherdstown.
Rates vary depending on
the size of the group and the length
of the tour, but generally the following
are the standard rates for 2
1/2-hour tours:

To
book a tour with one of the Antietam Battlefield
Guides, please call the Antietam
Museum Bookstore at 301.432.4329
or toll-free at 866.461.5180.
We recommend that you make your reservations
as far in advance as possible, as guide
availability cannot otherwise be guaranteed;
this is especially true if you will be
requesting a “specialty tour.”
